Welcome To The North Shore Schools

From The Desk of Superintendent

Welcome to the North Shore School District, a dynamic educational community made up of five public schools that serve a rich mix of students, whose academic performance is consistently high among all measures. This enables us to maintain a position as one of the strongest public school systems in the Nation. Our district includes Glen Head Elementary School, Glenwood Landing Elementary School, Sea Cliff Elementary School, North Shore Middle School and North Shore High School. Each school is uniquely successful and committed to working towards a cohesive approach to learning with an eye on continuous improvement for everyone in our learning community.

In North Shore, we seek to inspire our students to engage in experiences that will position them to delve deeply with content through the lenses of inquiry, conceptual mastery and opportunities aimed at achieving our mission and discovering their dreams. We believe that learning should be purposeful, exciting, exploratory, joyful, and with expectations for boundless possibilities. Committed to growth, our schools seek to position students and teachers to thrive in environments that foster academic achievement while balancing the need for respect, wellness, and social emotional learning that enables children to take responsible risks and develop strong process skills that enable them to master content across a broad range of academic areas. Our mission is to nurture and enrich our students' natural delight in learning and in the powers of mind and body.

Each child's awakening into confident young adulthood requires guided engagement with vital ideas and events of the past to realize fresh possibilities and discoveries for the future.  We aspire to foster in our students those qualities of character consonant with the ideals of a democratic society. We are committed to reaching beyond routine expectations in a learning environment that encourages inquiry and builds its daily practice upon respect for oneself and others.
