Health and Safety Guidelines - 2022/23

All students K-12 will return to school in-person.

Masks will not be required in school or on school transportation; masks are optional for any student and/or staff member who chooses to wear one.

Students and staff members who are experiencing symptoms, or are sick, should remain at home.

Testing is strongly encouraged for people with symptoms of COVID-19 as soon as possible after symptoms begin. Home tests will be accepted.

Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate for 5 days at home and immediately report the case to their school nurse.
For those with symptoms, Day 1 is the first full day after symptom onset (Day 0 is the day of symptom onset).
For those who had no symptoms, Day 0 is the day they were tested (not the day they received a positive test result) and Day 1 is the first full day following the day they were tested. If someone develops symptoms within the 10 days of testing the clock restarts at Day 0 on the day of symptom onset. Please note, we ask that these protocols are followed for the safety and well-being of all students and staff. Should there be community spread, these procedures could change.
Those with symptoms may resume attending school after 5 days if:
They are fever free without fever reducing medicine for 24 hours and their symptoms are improving;
They wear a mask through day 10 (day 1 is the first full day following the day they received a positive test result regardless of symptom onset)

No contact tracing will take place; however, individuals who are known to have been in proximity to infected individuals are expected to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and Test.

Students who test positive will follow the same protocols for PE and Athletics as they did last year. The school nurse will have more details.

No health attestation forms or daily temperature checks will be required for staff and students. Parents are asked to review their child’s health status prior to sending their child(ren) to school each day.

Classrooms and other instructional areas will be set up without an expectation for social distancing.

Lunch will take place in cafeterias.

Staff testing: Unvaccinated staff are not required to test.

There will be no remote learning option.

Home instruction will be permitted when all the NYS and North Shore guidelines are met (10 days of Absence)
